Andrea Rosso Efthymiou is an Associate Professor of Writing Studies and Rhetoric at Hofstra University, where she also serves as Director of Academic Planning and First-Year Programs and Writing Center Director. Having worked in higher education for nearly two decades, Andrea understands that sustainable mentorship of undergraduate research supports student retention and engagement.

Andrea chaired the 2017 National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing (NCPTW) and currently serves as NCPTW Treasurer. Andrea’s scholarship has appeared in College English, Writing Center Journal, WLN, Praxis: A Writing Center Journal and various edited collections. Her current research measures the impact of writing center tutors’ extended work beyond tutoring sessions, assessing tutors’ writing center research, conference presentations, and publications.

Andrea holds a BA in English, with a minor in Italian, from the University of California Los Angeles, an MA in Comparative Literature from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, and a PhD in English Composition & Rhetoric also from the Graduate Center.
